Flexible Spending Account
Please check with your employer to make sure that a tax-favored savings account is available where you work.
A Flexible Spending Account allows you to pay for certain health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. By using your pre-tax dollars, you will have more take-home pay.
2011 Planning Tip
As you start planning for 2011 Flexible Spending Account elections, please be advised that as of Jan. 1, 2011, over-the-counter medications will no longer be reimbursable, unless prescribed by a physician. This may impact your decision on how much you choose to elect for your 2011 Flexible Spending Account. You will still be reimbursed for prescription, medical, dental and vision expenses and co-pays.
These changes are part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and may change as Congress finalizes the regulations.
