Study Description: Randomized, Phase 3 Trial of Decitabine Versus Patient's Choice with Physician's Advice of either Supportive Care or Low-Dose Cytarabine for the Treatment of Older Patients with Newly Diagnosed Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Overview: This clinical research study is designed to measure the effectiveness of an investigational medication in the treatment of individuals with newly diagnosed Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Eligible participants in this study will receive the following, at no cost: vital signs measurements, physical examinations, laboratory evaluations, an EKG, and study-related medication.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Males and females, aged 65 years and older
- Current diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Exclusion Criteria:
- Active Acute Promyelotic Leukemia or CNS Leukemia
- Received chemotherapy for any myeloid disorder
- Current chronic respiratory disease requiring continuous oxygen use
- Uncontrolled active infections requiring intravenous (IV) antibiotics
