Apply to the Avera McKennan School of Radiologic Technology
Completed applications must be submitted no later than February 1 in order to be considered for the class starting in September. Please use the following guidelines to apply to the School of Radiologic Technology:
- Submit a completed application form.
- Submit a $25.00 nonrefundable processing fee along with the application form.
- Submit official high school and college transcripts.
- Submit American College Testing Program (ACT) scores.
- Submit three Avera McKennan School of Radiologic Technology reference forms. These forms must be signed by both the applicant and their reference to be considered valid.
- Upon receiving all the above materials, the Educational Director will determine if academic admission requirements have been met. A personal interview will be arranged with those applicants meeting the admission requirements. If you do not meet the requirements, you will receive a written explanation.
- The Admissions Committee will review the data submitted by each applicant who qualified for an interview, and the top candidates will be selected for acceptance into the program. A written notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent to all applicants no later than April 1.

Requirements for Admission:
- Be in good health and meet technical standards appropriate to radiologic technology as set forth by the school.
- Be a graduate of an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
- Demonstrate a balanced curriculum, with emphasis in physics, chemistry, mathematics and general sciences.
- Have taken the ACT examination.
- Have a high school or college GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must have participated in a job shadow experience in a radiology department.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 15 college credit hours of general education coursework. Written/oral communications and mathematics/analytical studies are required to satisfy a portion of the 15 credit-hour requirement. (An example of each required category would include College Algebra and English Composition). For the balance of the general education credits, applicants can draw from various areas of study to include: Arts & Humanities, Information Systems, Social/Behavioral sciences and Natural sciences.
