Diabetes Services

 Floyd Valley Hospital offers an American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognized program to assist the diabetic and family in learning about diabetes and how to manage it.  Pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes counseling is also available.

Services

Group Outpatient educational sessions are available by appointment with physician referral.  Clients meet with a registered nurse and registered dietician for class.

One on One outpatient education is available for individuals with special needs.

Cost

There is an hourly charge for the consultation. Floyd Valley Hospital can bill an insurance company upon
request.  The ADA recognized program is a covered benefit with medicare, medicaid, and most insurance companies once the yearly deductible is met.

  • Dietary consultation with a registered dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) - 546-3475
  • Diabetes education with a bachelors prepared diabetes education nurse - 546-3443

Support Groups

The Diabetes Support Group provides a forum for emotional, physical, and lifestyle concerns of diabetics and their families can be discussed in an atmosphere of caring and understanding for both Type I and Type II diabetes. The group offers education and discussion and promotes public awareness about diabetes issues.

The Diabetes Support Group meets generally the first Monday monthly  September through May at Floyd Valley Hospital.  Programs are planned to reflect interests and concerns of the group to keep current on new information and educational offerings. A social time for visiting and refreshments follows the program.

There is no membership fee or other requirement to attend. Everyone is welcome.
