The Avera Transplant Institute is proud to be the region's leader in transplantation since 1993, with a long-standing transplant program including kidney transplantation, and the region's only pancreas, and bone marrow transplant programs.
Bone Marrow Transplant
The region's only bone marrow transplant program is located on the Avera McKennan campus. We have the expertise and technology to help individuals with cancer and non-cancerous conditions fight disease. Learn about our awards and accreditations.
Kidney & Pancreas Transplant
The physicians at Avera Vascular & Transplant Surgery specialize in kidney and pancreas transplantation. People across the region are finding new hope and new life at the Avera Transplant Institute.
With a long-standing commitment to saving lives through organ donation and transplantation, Avera McKennan was awarded the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medal of Honor for sustaining a 24-month organ donation rate of 80%, and was also recognized for best practices in rates of organ transplantation per donor.
The Avera Transplant Institute was reported by www.ustransplant.org (a report originating from government oversight of transplant programs), to have patient survival and transplanted kidney survival as-predicted (according to recipient and donor organ health factors), and in some cases, significantly better-than-expected.
