Blankets for Babies at Avera Marshall

A baby blanket provides warmth and comfort for precious new babies. And as a child grows, the blanket’s role can grow too..

... as a play mat for an infant

... a security blanket for a toddler at naptime

... or a cape for a make-believe superhero.

Every baby born at Avera Marshall goes home with a snuggly warm blanket and hat, handmade by local volunteers. From hand-tied fleece blankets to knitted or crocheted blankets and hats, each is a treasured keepsake for families. The Avera Marshall Foundation provides funds for materials, and area crafters donate their talents to create the blankets and hats. Local merchants, the Purple Iris Yarn Shop and Fabrics Plus, organize baby-craft marathons to encourage community involvement.
