Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is a 120-bed, acute care JCAHO-certified, regional medical center serving Mitchell, S.D., and an eleven-county area. It was established by the Presentation Sisters in 1906 as St. Joseph Hospital and through a series of expansions continues to offer state-of-the-art medical technology and services. A fixed site MRI addition was recently completed and plans for a radiation oncology center and medical office building are being developed. Over 40 medical specialists are on staff, assisted by over 650 employees.

Avera Brady Health and Rehab was built in 1961 as Brady Memorial Home. It is an 84-bed Medicare/Medicaid certified, JCAHO-accredited, skilled nursing facility, providing long-term care, and occupational, speech, respiratory, and physical therapy. It also offers semi-independent apartment units. The 24-unit Avera Brady Assisted Living Center is being constructed Avera Brady campus, with an expected completion date of Spring/Summer 2000.
