Rasmusson Recognized by ACHE
Thomas P. Rasmusson, President and CEO, Avera Queen of Peace Health Services, received the American College of Healthcare Executives Service Award at the annual ACHE meeting which was held in conjunction with the annual South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations annual meeting in Rapid City, September 24-26.

Caregivers Support Group Scheduled
A Caregivers Support Group has been established so individuals who provide care for a spouse, family member, or other loved one can meet with other caregivers for fellowship and to share ideas and provide emotional support for one another. Meetings are held once a month at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospitality House at 600 East 6th Avenue in Mitchell.

Free Joint Seminar - October 13
he public is cordially invited to attend a free Joint Seminar at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, in the Community Room at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Those attending will learn about the signs, symptoms, causes, and treatment of joint pain, as well as additional information about bone and joint diseases and the treatments available.

Freedom from Smoking Program
Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is sponsoring the Freedom from Smoking® Program, the American Lung Association’s plan to assist with adult smoking cessation. Sessions begin October 13 and run through November 24; they will be held every Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room #1 at the hospital. Cost for the program is $65/person which covers all sessions and materials.

A free support group has been created for individuals who have already had bariatric surgery for weight loss. The Bariatric Surgery for Weight Loss Support Group will meet on Thursday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Conference Room #1 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

Golf Outing Planned to Benefit Hospice
The 19th Hole Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Wild Oak Golf Club in Mitchell.
