A Caregivers Support Group has been established so individuals who provide care for a spouse, family member, or other loved one can meet with other caregivers for fellowship and to share ideas and provide emotional support for one another.

Colon Cancer Presentation
March is National Colon Cancer Month and Avera Queen of Peace is sponsoring a special program on Thursday, March 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Avera Queen of Peace. Dennis Leland, MD, a General Surgeon with Avera Mitchell Surgical, will provide information on colon cancer, the risk factors, signs and symptoms, as well as screening guidelines and treatment.

Avera Pediatrics Plus Named Community Partner
Avera Pediatrics Plus has been designated as the Community Partner for Project 8, the South Dakota Governor's Child Seat Distribution Program. Cindi Dixon, Office Manager, and Shandra Rasmussen, CMA, are both Certified Kid Safe Technicians and are available to check for proper car seat installation.

Bariatric Surgery for Weight Loss Support Group
A free support group has been created for individuals who have already had bariatric surgery for weight loss. The Bariatric Surgery for Weight Loss Support Group will meet on Thursday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Conference Room #1 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. General Surgeon Michael D. Haley, MD, FACS, will be present for questions and answers.

The South Dakota Department of Health, along with Avera Health and Sanford Health, announces an H1N1 flu vaccination clinic for the general public at the Mitchell Health and Wellness Fair at Mitchell Christian High School on Saturday, January 30.
