DWU has been in Mitchell since 1885, and we are proud to be an integral part of the community as an institution of higher education, an employer and a part of the community’s economic engine. The hospital is a key player in the success of our popular nursing program.

"Mitchell Technical Institute serves a large portion of the central part of South Dakota. With 20 programs in four divisions including Business and Service Industries, Engineering Technologies, Construction Technologies, and Health Sciences, MTI is a popular close-to-home choice for many students. More than 90% of MTI students are from South Dakota, and consistently, more than 75% of graduates each year find jobs within our state.
