Avera St. Luke's Surgery Center Now a Whole New Experience 

Avera St. Luke's new Surgery Center, located on the first floor of the hospital's southeast addition, features a same day surgery area, 22 patient rooms, a spacious post-surgery recovery area and seven operating suites.

Surgery patients will find a beautiful and comfortable waiting room and reception area, a separate pediatric playroom, two private family-physician consultation rooms, and efficient nursing stations. Each private room has an adjacent bathroom.

The operating suites are each designed for special surgical procedures. A miminally invasive operating suite has an advanced surgical camera system.

State Street Medical Square

Avera St. Luke’s new State Street Medical Square, on the corner of First Avenue Southeast and State Street in Aberdeen, SD, opened in late 2008. Aberdeen Family Physicians is the anchor tenant and occupies the first floor.

The two-story, 54,000-square-foot building is located just north of the hospital. A pharmacy is also located in State Street Medical Square. More than 20,000 square feet of rentable space for other physicians is available.

Pediatric Unit

Avera St. Luke's Pediatric Unit moved to the Third Floor South T-Wing in early 2010. The fully remodeled unit features 10 rooms for young patients, plus a playroom with two unique doors: one is regular height and the other is smaller, just the right size for youngsters.

Avera St. Luke's Healthcare Plaza

Avera St. Luke’s new Healthcare Plaza, located at 820 First Ave. S.E. in Aberdeen, SD, features 17,000 square feet of space for medical office suites and a free-standing imaging center in a  strip mall style, with convenient parking located next to the building.

The first space to be occupied is Avera St. Luke’s Imaging Center. Designed with the needs of outpatients in mind, the center offers a full spectrum of the latest technology found in medical imaging equipment, including a CT scanner, ultrasound, bone densitometry (DEXA) and general radiology (X-ray) - plus full-field, direct digital mammography, the first equipment of this kind in the region.

As a regional center for medical services, Avera St. Luke’s provides diagnostic exams for more than 50,000 people each year, with about 60 percent of those for outpatients.

Southeast Hospital Addition

Avera St. Luke's southeast addition houses our Intensive Care Unit; the BirthPlace, our new maternity unit; the Surgery Center; and physician clinics on the second floor, North Central Heart Institute and Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates of Aberdeen.

The Surgery Center on the first floor, featuring a new same day surgery area, was recently completed. The first floor also serves as a clinic entrance and includes a foyer, staircase and elevators.

The ICU on the third floor connects to our existing third-floor Medical Unit, and includes a large family lounge area.

The BirthPlace, a state-of-the-art maternity unit on the fourth floor, features 12 spacious, private rooms that surround a central nursery and a rainbow-shaped window for viewing the "Small Miracles."

Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center

Avera St. Luke's new Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center offers a wide range of therapy services to the people of this region, featuring the region's only large-size warm water therapy pool.

Even though our building is connected to the Aberdeen Family Y, we’re a separate entity with no membership required. The Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center is a department of Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, located at an offsite location at 721 First Ave. S.E. in Aberdeen, SD.

We invite you to take a look at our warm water therapy pool and check out our new space and equipment. Our entire facility is handicapped accessible, including family changing rooms.
