“You are God’s building.” That really is something to think about. I, like most women, tend to be critical of my body. A good friend told me that once I hit 50, I’ll be more forgiving of my flaws and learn to embrace my body. Unfortunately, I’m sure there will be more of me to embrace by the time I hit 50.
This verse addresses more than just our physical being. God created each of us with the potential for immense spiritual beauty. We’ve all known individuals who don’t stand out in a physical sense, but people are naturally drawn to them because of their overwhelming spirit. We feel good when we’re around them. They tend to be kind and giving, always thinking of others. They may not conform to the Hollywood image, but in their own way they better the lives of those whom they touch.
Our bodies were created to carry out God’s work. From the newborn to the elderly, we all possess the ability to reach out and touch others. A kind word or deed can brighten someone’s day. I’ve seen a simple thank you note bring tears to a recipient’s eyes, even though I didn’t think it was much of a gesture. Never underestimate your ability to make a difference in someone’s life. Today, I’m going to take a few moments to make a difference, even if it is as simple as coloring with my daughter or writing a note to my grandma. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make it to the gym.
