Grief and Loss Programs

Infant Loss Support, Child, Adolescent and Adult Grief Programs

Grief situations present significant challenges that can affect us, our families and our work life. These programs are designed to help individuals through the grief and loss process. Sessions are led by qualified clinicians and consist of formal learning experience and group discussion.

All Adult Grief Groups and Infant Loss Support Groups are Provided Free of Charge through a Grant from the Avera Foundation. If you would like to help, donations are accepted for the Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center Grief & Loss Center. Individual sessions for those who are not receptive to a group atmosphere are available as a billable service.

Avera also has a Child and Adolescent Grief Program. Please contact us about charges for these services.

Infant Loss Support Group Schedule

Losing an infant is an extremely difficult situation for parents and family members to cope with. Our counselors can help you deal with the grief.

Our infant loss support group meets each Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the dates listed above. Please Contact us for more information.

Adult Grief Program Schedule

Our grief program can help you say goodbye and cope with your loss. Grief is usually a painful feeling that can affect your entire being - emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually. Our counselors will offer information about the normal grief process during this program for adults or seniors.

Child and Adolescent Grief Program

Counselors who specialize in children and adolescents see clients individually or as a family for grief needs. There is a charge for these services, but most are covered by insurance. We would be happy to check insurance coverage for clients.
