Mind Body Class Descriptions
Yoga – Gentle series of Yoga postures help enhance muscle strength and flexibility and help maintain energy level to meet any challenge.
Yin Yoga – A series of long, slow yoga poses held for three minutes or more, allowing the connective tissue of the body to release and gently stretch. As you hold the poses, the tendons, ligaments and fascia of your body soften and relax. Poses are all done on the floor. A yin practice involves moving into a pose, focusing on your breath and then letting go of thoughts and feelings in order to experience your innermost self.
Tai Chi (ty-chee) – This class combines slow, meditative movements for muscular control, balance, flexibility and mental clarity.
On the Ball – A series of gentle, controlled core strengthening exercises on the ball and focuses on awareness, control and function of specific muscle groups.
Mat Pilates – Basic pilates exercises on the mat for strengthening the core muscles (abdominal and low back muscle groups). These exercises can easily be modified using a chair.
Zumba - Dance yourself into shape with Zumba! This unique Latin-inspired dance fitness workout helps you burn calories while you move to exhilirating music and rhythms. Come, move and join the party!
Belly Dancing – Belly dance is a gentle, non-impact, weight bearing exercise that combines strength development with gracefulness. Coordination and balance improve with the gentle undulations that lengthen and decompress the entire spinal column. Relax, restore and revitalize yourself with this ancient and unique dance.
Stretch & Strengthen - guided exercises after cancer – recommended exercises for cancer survivors who may have postural deviations and/or muscular imbalances resulting from surgery and/or treatment. This class will identify muscular imbalances and work on correcting them by concentrating on muscle specific stretching and strengthening exercises.
