Wig salon

Undergoing cancer treatment is a stressful time for anyone, yet for women, the thought of losing their hair and skin tone through chemotherapy and radiation can be traumatic.

The Wig Salon at the Avera Cancer Institute provides natural, high-quality wigs to help cancer patients cope with the physical changes and emotional experience of hair loss. A licensed cosmetologist and wig consultant with more than 25 years experience, Del Lomheim, also a cancer survivor, helps find the right cut, color and style for each woman. A free wig and consultation are offered to patients who will lose their hair due to cancer treatment, thanks to proceeds from the Avera Race Against Breast Cancer. Del also conducts the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good, Feel Better” program that offers makeup tips and helps women apply makeup and concealer, making them look and feel beautiful.
