Clinic Patient Advocate Services
The role of clinic patient advocate was established to provide the patient and the patient's care team with the following services:
- Obtain detailed patient insurance benefit information for all aspects of cancer care, including outpatient services and prescription drugs
- Obtain necessary payor authorizations for outpatient services or prescription drugs
- Advise patients on insurance and billing issues and options
- Work with patients, families and care team members to help address insurance coverage gaps via alternative funding options
- Assist patients who are uninsured to access other funding resources, and assist patient in completing required documentation
- Upon request, submit supporting treatment documentation for patient reimbursement to cancer policy administrators
