Our experience was better than we could have even hoped. Before surgery, we had a great meeting with the nurse anesthetist and anesthesiologist, and then a great tour. We got all our questions answered and felt much more prepared to bring our son in for his fifth surgery. Upon arriving at the hospital, our treatment was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, kind, and seemed very professional. They were also flexible – allowing labs to be done in the OR, and waiting to put on a bracelet until our son was calm. Just little things like that that seemed to make us feel more comfortable. He seemed to have wonderful pain management, the nurses were amazing, really amazing! They were quiet, gentle, sweet, nurturing, and allowed my husband and me to assist in our son's care when we could.
It was also wonderful to have the Chaplain visit and pray with us. Our treatment truly was the best we could have imagined. We were very anxious and protective of our little son, so your team had some ground to make up. We would choose to return to Avera for our next phase of surgeries. We now have a renewed faith in the health care system and the people who make it up. Thank you for being so wonderful to us and to our little boy! You blessed us!"
