In July 2007, Avera opened the Dakotas first and only practice dedicated to this field. With thousands of patients with liver disease being treated, Avera Liver Disease now staffs two Hepatologists and two Hepatobiliary Surgeons.

New Hepatitis C Screening Recommendations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends that anyone born between 1945 through 1965 get tested for Hepatitis C.
