Knee Ligament Injury (ACL, PCL, MCL)

It’s possible for the various ligaments that connect the knee joint to the thighbone to tear or overstretch. The medial collateral ligament runs along the inside of the knee, the anterior cruciate is in the middle of the knee, the lateral collateral runs along the outside of the knee and the posterior cruciate works with the ACL.

Symptoms

  • Popping sound at time of injury
  • Swelling
  • Pain, especially with weight on the injured leg

Treatment

  • Rest
  • Crutches
  • Physical therapy
  • Surgery to rebuild torn ligament
