Clavicle Fracture

When too much pressure is put on a bone it can break. A stress fracture is a hairline crack.


  • Intense pain
  • Swelling, bruising
  • Difficulty moving shoulder
  • Visibly out of place or misshapen


  • Immobilization using a sling – casts aren’t used for collarbones.
  • Surgery may be necessary to implant fixation devices such as plates, rods or screws if your bones don’t line back up.
