SLAP Tear

A SLAP tear involves the labrum, or tissue surrounding the socket, and occurs when the top part of the labrum is injured.

Symptoms

  • Popping, catching or locking
  • Pain with shoulder movement or lifting
  • Decreased range of motion

Treatment

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication, such as ibuprofen
  • Physical therapy
  • Arthroscopic surgery to repair the labrum
