Dr. Gregory F. AlvineGregory F. Alvine, MD

Dr. Alvine is a native of Sioux Falls and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Iowa in 1987. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa in 1991 and went on to complete his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Kansas in 1996. Dr. Alvine completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Orthopedic Physician Associates in Seattle WA in 1997 and then returned to Sioux Falls to begin his practice in July of 1997. He practices general orthopedics with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery and spine surgery.

Dr. Jeffrey S. KaloJeffrey S. Kalo, DO

Dr. Kalo has a special interest and qualification in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, articular cartilage repair, sports medicine and total joint replacement. He earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his Doctorate Degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did his Internship at Lansing General Hospital in Lansing Michigan and his Orthopedic Residency at Michigan State University. Dr. Kalo is Board Certified with the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He and his family come to us from Fargo ND where he was in private practice. While in Fargo he served as Team Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon for North Dakota State University. He also served as a clinical instructor at the University of North Dakota Medical School and was an instructor for the North Dakota State University Athletic Training Program for 10 years.

Scott McPherson, MD Scott McPherson, MD

Dr. Scott McPherson is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who is specially trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. McPherson brings a wealth of knowledge and state-of-the-art expertise to CORE Orthopedics Avera Medical Group. He graduated from medical school at the University of Minnesota, was an orthopedic surgery resident at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif., and completed a fellowship at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Dr. McPherson’s focus is on eliminating pain and restoring function with the least invasive and most up-to-date methods available.

Dr. Erik PetersonErik Peterson, MD

Dr. Peterson is a native of the Sioux Falls area. After graduating from Brandon Valley High School, he attended South Dakota State University where he received a degree in biology. He then went on to medical school at the University of South Dakota where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Peterson completed his residency in general orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. While there, he received extensive training in total joint replacement. Dr. Peterson then completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine in Phoenix, AZ where he developed a special interest in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Dr. Peterson practices general orthopedics and specializes in arthroscopic surgery and total joint replacement of the shoulder, knee, and hip. Joining him in Sioux Falls, are his wife and their two children.

Dr. Travis VennerTravis Venner, DPM

Dr. Venner is from Genoa, WI and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1994. He received his Medical Degree from Des Moines University in 1998 and went on to complete his residency in Podiatric Surgery at Yale - New Haven Hospital/VA Connecticut Health Care System in 2001. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He specializes in Foot and Ankle Surgery and has a special interest and qualification in Diabetic foot care.

Dr. David WattsDavid Watts, MD

Dr. Watts completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN. He went on to complete his Orthopedic Residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopedic Surgery in 2005. He is Board Qualified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Watts practices general orthopedics and has a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. He has trained extensively with Dr. Frank Alvine with special emphasis in total ankle replacement surgery.
