Interventional Pain Specialists
Dr. Lockwood has 20 years of experience in pain management and anesthesia. At Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, he serves as medical director of anesthesia and operative services, staff anesthesiologist and medical director of the pain clinic. Dr. Lockwood received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine at Vermillion. He completed residency with advanced subspecialty in pain-regional anesthesia at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, and residency in anesthesiology at Mayo Graduate School of Anesthesia. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and American Board of Anesthesiology Pain Management, and is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Society of Anesthesiology and American Medical Association.
Dr. Metz has 17 years experience as an anesthesiologist. He joined Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in 2000 and is currently medical director of Avera McKennan’s Acute Pain Service. Dr. Metz received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine at Vermillion. He completed anesthesiology residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia Hospital and Clinics at Columbia, Mo., and a transitional residency at Avera McKennan. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Echocardiography-Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. He is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Metz has received advanced certification in Kyphoplasty repair of Vertebral Compression Fractures and Spinal Cord Stimulator Therapy.
