Early detection is key to treatment and prevention. Avera De Smet Memorial Hospital offers several screenings to the public to promote awareness of diseases such as:

- Cardio-pulmonary dysfunction

Prostate Screening – September (date TBA): Prostate screening for men is recommended annually after the age of 50 or, if over the age of 40 for African American men or men with a family history of prostate cancer. This simple blood test and examination is available to everyone. Call 605-854-3329 for more information.
Heart & Heel Screening – February (date TBA): Cardiac and osteoporosis heel screens. Watch for further information.
Town & Country Show (dates TBA): Free blood pressure checks at the annual Town & Country Show.
Crazy Days (date TBA): Free blood pressure checks at De Smet's Crazy Days celebration.
Yearly Spring Sports Physicals: High school athletes are screened for physical fitness, free of charge, prior to beginning the sports season.
