Specialty Training and Experience
Dr. Santos is a board certified physician specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is fellowship-trained in the use of fluoroscopically-guided spinal injections for cervical and lumbar disorders, ultrasound-guided injections for the treatment of peripheral nerve and joint disorders, spinal cord stimulators for pain, intramuscular stimulation (dry needling), trigger point injections and Botox for spasticity and headaches.
His special interests include spine and musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine, cancer pain, orthopedic injuries, nerve pains, electrodiagnostics (EMG), workers compensation, and mindfulness.
Dr. Santos completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital where he served as Chief Resident. He did his sub-specialty training in Interventional Spine and Pain at the University of Washington Seattle, which was the birthplace of modern pain medicine and the world's first multidisciplinary pain clinic.
Dr. Santos is committed to providing compassionate care for patients with a wide range of ailments, using a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. His practice philosophy involves understanding the history of an injury, and the many causes of both acute and chronic pain. He believes that the body has the innate ability to heal itself, and his goal is to improve maximum function and quality of life with proper medical treatments combined with physical conditioning. Overall, he believes in using the most conservative and least invasive care possible to help restore his patients to their optimum level of functioning.
