The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) renewal course is designed to refresh and prepare participants to identify and treat cardiopulmonary arrest and common conditions that may lead to cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. Participants will be able to demonstrate the following objectives and psychomotor skills at the end of the course:
- recognize impending respiratory failure and shock;
- initiate treatment based on the patient's physiologic status as identified by rapid cardiopulmonary assessment;
- stabilize and evaluate the trauma victim;
- identify and treat unstable ECG rhythms; and
provide support for patients, families and fellow providers in coping with a child's critical illness, injury and potential death.
This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists, paramedics, respiratory therapists and other interested allied health professionals.
