The Medication Aide Training Program utilizes lecture, discussion and one-on-one mock medication skills practice. Avera Education & Staffing Solutions’ program is designed to prepare the student to skillfully and safely administer medications in your facility.
A successful medication aide needs not only a strong initial training program but ongoing training as well. Continuing education programs, such as our one-hour program “Drug Diversion”, or other medication-related topics, can be presented conveniently on-site or via webinar to ensure your medication aides stay current with trends and regulations.
Cancellation Policy
Avera Education & Staffing Solutions reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment or complications beyond our control. In the event of a cancellation, we will attempt to accommodate student and/or facility needs when rescheduling. Avera Education & Staffing Solutions also reserves the right to change the dates and times. In this case, we will attempt to contact all registrants to reschedule for the new class.
If for any reason a class is canceled after registration confirmation approval has been sent, Avera Education & Staffing Solutions will notify registrants at the phone number listed on the registration.
Missed Classes
If a student misses one or more classes, the student can make up the classes on the next scheduled date of the same class that was missed. Refunds are NOT issued for missed classes.
Class Withdrawal Policy
A 25% fee will be charged for withdrawal of registration from a class if received less than ten (10) business days before the first day of class.
Registrations may be transferred to another individual to attend the original scheduled class.
The Medication Aide Training Program is 20 hours, 16 of which are classroom and self-study work. Students will be expected to complete study guides outside of class time. During the third day of class, the student works one-on-one with the instructor and completes a written exam and a mock medication pass. The student must then complete a minimum of four hours of clinical training under the direct supervision of an RN.
The State of South Dakota requires students in the Medication Aide Training Program to have a high school diploma or GED and a copy must be provided to Avera Education & Staffing Solutions prior to certificate issuance.
