Pain: The Fifth Vital Sign

Program Objectives:
- Differentiate three catagories of pain.
- Compare and contrast assessment of pain based on lifespan considerations;
- Evaluate the indications for the use of medications for pain management; and
- Critique non-pharmacological interventions utilized to reduce and augment analgesic use.
Direction for Successful Completion of this CNE Activity: For successful completion of this continuing nursing education activity, participants must do all of the following:
- Watch the entire program;
- Successfully complete the post-test; passing score is 85%;
- Submit the completed evaluation form; and
- Complete the electronic CNE Request.
Conflicts of Interest (or lack thereof) for Planners and Presenters: Becky Wolff, RN, MSN, MA, is an Assistant Professor of Health Sciences at University of South Dakota. She has 20 years experience in clinical and nursing management, 15 years of experience in nursing education (baccalaureate, associate, and LPN), and 10 years private practice in holistic treatment of patients with pain. She is certified in Healing Touch, Clinical Aromatherapy and Instructor of Clinical Aromatherapy, and is a Reiki Master, Archetypal Reader, and Master of Crystology. All information presented in this continuing nursing education activity by Ms. Wolff has been done fairly and without bias.
