The Oncology Nursing Society's (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course provides a comprehensive review of the knowledge needed to administer cytotoxic and biotherapeutic agents. The ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course is NOT a certification course and is not intended to measure competency. Individual institutions are responsible for determining their own requirements for assessing clinical competency.
Beginnning 2014, the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) will be replacing the two-day face to face chemotherapy course with an interactive, comprehensive, online course that will allow a certificate indicating the learner possesses specific knowledge(from the ONCC) and a continuing nursing education certificate and provider card (from ONS). All in-person chemotherapy courses will cease as of December 31st, 2013. The online
certificate will be able to train you with the basic knowledge over a longer period of time, at your own pace. As before, you will need to complete your facility competency requirements.
