Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is a course developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT). PHTLS focuses on principles, not preferences. By focusing on principles of good trauma care, PHTLS promotes critical thinking. PHTLS is specifically designed for the unique requirements of caring for trauma patients in the prehospital setting during the first ONE hour of care to reduce morbidity and mortality rates of trauma victims.
Target Audience: EMTs, paramedics, nurses and other interested allied health professionals.
This program has been approved nationally for EMTs for 16 hours of continuing education.
