What does this report tell me?

This report shows the charges for a 12-month period at a particular Avera hospital for the top 25 diagnoses. The report groups diagnoses by common terminology or complaint. While reviewing these charges it is important to remember that each patient is a unique individual and the course of treatment may vary to meet the needs of the patient.

What do the categories mean?

  • DRG – this is the diagnosis that was treated
  • Discharges – the number of patients who were discharged following treatment for this particular diagnosis during the reporting period
  • Minimum – the lowest charge recorded for this diagnosis during the reporting period
  • Median – the median charge (middle value) recorded for this diagnosis during the reporting period
  • Maximum – the largest charge recorded for this diagnosis during the reporting period
