Avera St. Luke's Health Forum Focuses on Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancer: Preventable, Beatable, Treatable.” That’s the focus of a free community health forum sponsored during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by Avera St. Luke’s Hospital at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in Aberdeen at Avera St. Luke’s Education Center, 709 Sixth Ave. S.E. Refreshments will be served.

Presenters at the health forum include Thomas Buttolph, MD, Avera Medical Group Pathology Aberdeen; Richard Conklin, MD, Avera Medical Group Oncology and Hematology Aberdeen; Michael Knapp, DO, Avera Aberdeen Family Physicians; Christopher Larson, MD, Aberdeen Surgical Associates; and Beth Coats, a Registered Dietitian with Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

If you’re age 50 or older, it’s time for a screening colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed nationwide, but it's also the most treatable if detected early. Come to the forum and find out more, then talk to your doctor and schedule a screening at the Avera Endoscopy Center, located at Avera St. Luke’s. For more information, call 605-725-3636.
