Babies Lost to Miscarriage Being Remembered at Memorial Service

ABERDEEN (May 10, 2012) –The annual memorial service and interment to remember babies lost through miscarriage and stillbirth, a gesture of caring from Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in cooperation with Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home and Aberdeen’s Riverside Cemetery, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the cemetery, 1706 W. Melgaard Road.

A short program will be led by the Rev. Jordan Samson of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen and the Rev. Craig Grams of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Groton. Anyone in the community who has had a loss recently or in the past is encouraged to come and be part of this interfaith service. If you wish, bring a flower to place at the gravesite. A memorial monument and marker have been donated by Aberdeen Knights of Columbus.

If there is inclement weather or soggy grounds, the graveside service will be moved to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital Chapel, 305 S. State St., and burial will take place at a later date.
