Avera St. Luke’s Kidney Dialysis Unit Scores High in Quality

ABERDEEN (Jan. 11, 2012) – Avera St. Luke’s Hospital’s Kidney Dialysis Unit scored a perfect score in meeting quality standards set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through its Quality Incentive Program.

Avera St. Luke’s received a 30 out of 30 score in its End-Stage Renal Disease Quality Incentive Program evaluation, better than the national average of 26. The purpose of this program is to improve patient care. CMS gives facilities a financial reason to meet standards for good quality care. Facilities are scored on total performance of three individual facility measures and how close their performance comes to CMS standards. All facilities are required to display their Performance Score Certificate in a public area during all of 2012.

“We’re extremely proud of the quality service we provide to our dialysis patients,” said Melanie Remily, nurse manager of Avera St. Luke’s Dialysis Unit. “We work hard to provide the very best care possible to each of our patients.”
