Avera McKennan and Wellbe Win Web Health Award


SIOUX FALLS (Jan. 3, 2013) – Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, in collaboration with Wellbe, Inc., was named a winner in the 15th annual Web Health AwardsSM program. This competition, held twice each year, recognizes the nation’s best digital health resources.

Avera McKennan and Wellbe received a gold award for Avera TotalCare in the web-based resource/tool category for hospitals 300+ beds. The winning entry was chosen from more than 300 entries judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media.

Wellbe and Avera McKennan join the ranks of the American Diabetes Association, Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education, Abbott Laboratories, Medscape/WebMD, UnitedHealthcare and other nationwide organizations in receiving a gold award, demonstrating the success of the Guided CarePath tool in transforming the patient journey for episodic care.

Avera TotalCare is a complete program designed by Avera surgeons and caregivers to guide patients step by step through their preparation, hospital stay and recovery from joint replacement surgery. Wellbe, the inventor of the cloud-based Guided CarePath, works with health providers to engage patients as partners in their treatments.

The Web Health AwardsSM program is organized by the Health Information Resource CenterSM (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields.
