About the IRB
Statement of Authority and Purpose
It is the intent of Avera, through the Avera Institutional Review Board (IRB) to assist investigators engaged in human subject research to conduct their research along ethical guidelines reflecting professional as well as community standards. In addition Avera has an obligation to ensure that all research involving human subjects meets regulations established by the United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
The Avera IRB is composed of affiliated and community members representing Avera McKennan, Avera Sacred Heart and Avera Queen of Peace.

In addition to entities within the Avera system, the Avera Institutional Review Board serves as the "IRB of Record" for the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota and the Sioux Falls Surgical Center.
