Volunteering at Avera Marshall
With over 300 dedicated volunteers, Avera Marshall is a great place to be a volunteer. Whether you are looking to meet people, gain new skills, share your talents or give back to the organization, volunteering is the right choice. Volunteers are utilized in the hospital, the Gift Shop, the Thrift Store and in the long-term care facility. Volunteers may choose where and when they would like to share their time and talents.
From clerical work to greeting our visitors, teens, retired individuals and men and women of all ages volunteer at Avera Marshall. It is worthwhile and enjoyable.
Volunteers are able to enhance the services provided to ensure patients and visitors are treated with compassion and hospitality. Volunteers add an extra touch wherever they serve; they are an integral part of our mission.
Volunteer Application & Orientation
To become a volunteer, you need to attend a short orientation session and complete an application. A background check is required and a Mantoux test may be necessary. You will have the opportunity to choose areas of interest, available days and times.
Orientation sessions are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Education/Volunteer Services office at Avera Marshall.
Benefits of Volunteering
Volunteering promotes good health -- spiritually, emotionally and physically. Research shows that not only do volunteers feel healthier, they actually are healthier due to increased energy, lower blood pressure, less depression and better eating and sleeping habits.
"You give but little when you give of possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." -Kahlil Gibran
