Dr. Christopher Swanson, a member of the Avera Medical Group, provides internal medicine care at the Avera Marshall Specialty Clinic.

An internist (or internal medicine specialist) does the following:

• Provides care focused on adults, especially those who have seemingly unrelated symptoms
• Diagnoses and treats both simple and complex illnesses/diseases
• Suggests preventive measures for healthy aging and living

Dr. Swanson's medical interests include nephrology, geriatrics, hypertension, diabetes, long-term care, primary care and wellness counseling.

Dr. Swanson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota medical school and is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine. He grew up in Mapleton, Minn.
