Dougherty Hospice House
Thanks to support from the community, the Dougherty Hospice House opened its doors in 2007, introducing the community to a new meaning of hospice. With a private, home-like setting full of natural light, open gardens and courtyard space, this sixteen-room facility furthers our mission to provide a dignified, peaceful journey from life to death through excellence in spiritual, emotional and physical care to those who are dying and their loved ones.
Through generous contributions from the community, in addition to a major gift from Michael Dougherty, wheels were set in motion to construct a new facility for hospice patients. Today, patients and families can enjoy and celebrate life while receiving the comfort and support they need. Located in a beautiful, natural environment with convenient access to Avera Prince of Peace Re, the Dougherty Hospice House provides a peaceful setting while remaining committed to providing the most modern care techniques.
From the ninety pieces of original artwork on display throughout the home to the fully equipped patient suites, the Dougherty Hospice House truly redefines the meaning of hospice.
