Avera Race Celebrates its Silver with Record-Breaking Numbers
Energy, spirit and pride surrounded the Avera McKennan Fitness Center on Saturday May 11th as over 6,800 Avera Race participants, supporters and volunteers gathered for the 25th Annual Avera Race Against Breast Cancer! Thank you to everyone for making this year's event a HUGE success! Almost $400,000 was raised which directly benefits cancer survivors and their families at the Avera Cancer Institute.

Rad Students put the "Good" in Baked Goods at Annual Fundraiser
The Radiology Student Bake Sale at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center on May 1st raised over $1,200 to benefit the Radiology Student Education Fund. Thank you to everyone for baking, selling and eating!
A Can of Compassion and a Hint of Hospitality: Lorna’s Pantry is Filled with Generosity
Thank you to everyone who helped fill Lorna’s Pantry at the Walsh Family Village. Because of you, the shelves at the village have been loaded with love; countless individual cans, boxes and packages have been donated to support the pantry at the village.
Lorna’s Pantry Food Drive was created in memory of Lorna Hunter, an employee of Avera McKennan who was known for her faith and driving force to honor God’s will. To live out her spirit and testimony of caring; friends, family and co-workers banded together to demonstrate generosity and giving through a food drive aimed to fill the pantry at Walsh Family Village.

Radiology Student Butter Braid Fundraiser Raises Dough
No “buttering up” here, the Radiology students rose to the occasion selling 320 butter braids at their recent fundraiser. All the twisted goodness brought $3,520 to benefit the Radiology Student Education Fund.

Compassion and Carbohydrates!
The annual Compassion in Action Spaghetti Supper and Silent Auction was a huge success. While noshing on noodles, a silent auction was a less filling distraction for those looking to give back. Overall, the event raised $3,300 to support patients and families at Avera Cancer Institute. Thank you to everyone for their support!
Baking and Raking in the Support!
The Nurse Governance Bake Sale was a sweet success raising $5,700 to benefit the “Nursing Excellence” fund that supports nursing simulation, distinguished guest lecturers, research, continued education and best practices.
Compassion In... the Bag!
Thank you to everyone for their support in the Compassion in Action Charity Rummage. Over $2,700 was raised to benefit patients with blood disorders or those undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

Artistic Fundraiser Draws a Compassionate Crowd of Supporters
Thank you to everyone for supporting the 2013 HeARTS in Healing fundraiser benefiting Avera Behavioral Health Center. From artists to attendees, volunteers to program supporters, your gifts make a difference to patients and families receiving services at the Behavioral Health Center.
Thank YOU for this Year's Holiday of CARING
Because of friends like you, the Avera McKennan Foundation had an overwhelming response to this year’s Holiday of CARING. Thank you to all those that helped make Christmas special for patients and families in need this holiday season.
Through the generosity of hospital departments, individual families, fellow employees and the general public, the Avera McKennan Foundation distributed countless gifts to pediatric patients at Avera Children’s Hospital & Clinics and a number of household items at the Walsh Family Village.
Also, a nearly 50 families were identified and sponsored by various individuals and hospital departments. Thank you again to everyone for making this Holiday of CARING the best ever!
