HeARTS in Healing:Touting Artistic Talents Creates Success

Thank you to everyone for supporting the 2014 HeARTS in Healing fundraiser benefiting patients and families at Avera Behavioral Health Center. From artists to attendees, volunteers to program supporters, your gifts make a difference to patients and families receiving services at the Avera Behavioral Health Center. The Nurse Governance Council bake sale brings in the bucks to benefit nurses! Almost $6,000 was raised to support the Nursing Excellence Fund!  Thank you to everyone for baking, buying and benefiting! 

The Nursing Excellence Fund supports innovative education initiatives and research endeavors to continue to develop nursing excellence in caring for patients. Thank you again for supporting our nurses!

Steward the Spirit!

Thank you for participating in the "Spirit of Halloween" benefiting the Child Life Program at Avera Children's Hospital. Your gift makes a difference in the lives of children in our community and makes Halloween fun at the same time!

Since 2006, the Spirit of Children was established to make hospitals a less scary place for kids and their families by providing fun during Halloween and funding all year long to Child Life Departments. Once again, Avera Children’s Hospital is proud to be a member of the fundraising portion of the program with the help of local Spirit Halloween stores. Thank you for your support.

The month of October may have been pink, but the results have the foundation seeing green! Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, organizations, community partners and donors like you, nearly $20,000 was raised from the various fundraisers and events. These dollars benefit local cancer patients and their families at the Avera Cancer Institute.

Thank you to our grateful golfers for taking a swing at curing cancer on Wednesday, September 11th for the Compassion in Action Golf Tournament. Because of supporters like you, over $15,000 was raised to help patients and families at the Avera Cancer Institute!

A Helpful Smile for Every Mile!

Sioux Falls Hy-Vee stores donate over $1,500 to benefit the Avera Race Against Breast Cancer. Thank you to everyone for shopping and saving lives!

Operation Helpful Smile is a Sioux Falls Hy-Vee program that's assisted local non-profit organizations and charities in the community over the past 11 years. Hy-Vee proudly announces that Operation Helpful Smile surpassed the $1.6 million mark in funding given back to over 100 local non-profit organizations.

Each week, a different area non-profit organization receives a monetary donation from Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee will match all customer contributions received for each weekly organization up to $1,000.00.

Avera Race Celebrates its Silver with Record-Breaking Numbers

Energy, spirit and pride surrounded the Avera McKennan Fitness Center on Saturday May 11th as over 6,800 Avera Race participants, supporters and volunteers gathered for the 25th Annual Avera Race Against Breast Cancer! Thank you to everyone for making this year's event a HUGE success! Almost $400,000 was raised which directly benefits cancer survivors and their families at the Avera Cancer Institute.

The Radiology Student Bake Sale at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center on May 1st raised over $1,200 to benefit the Radiology Student Education Fund. Thank you to everyone for baking, selling and eating!


A Can of Compassion and a Hint of Hospitality: Lorna’s Pantry is Filled with Generosity

Lorna's Pantry food driveThank you to everyone who helped fill Lorna’s Pantry at the Walsh Family Village. Because of you, the shelves at the village have been loaded with love; countless individual cans, boxes and packages have been donated to support the pantry at the village.

Lorna’s Pantry Food Drive was created in memory of Lorna Hunter, an employee of Avera McKennan who was known for her faith and driving force to honor God’s will. To live out her spirit and testimony of caring; friends, family and co-workers banded together to demonstrate generosity and giving through a food drive aimed to fill the pantry at Walsh Family Village.
