"In the United States, every minute a woman is diagnosed with a precancerous lesion, every hour a woman is diagnosed with cervical cancer, and every two hours a woman dies from cervical cancer, " said Dr. Delf Schmidt-Grimminger, assistant professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the USD School of Medicine and senior scientist with the Avera Research Institute. Deaths from cervical cancer are two to three times higher in Native American populations.
