Bereavement and Grief Support
We offer a variety of bereavement services to ease this transition in life for 13 months following the death of a loved one.
Join Us for a Hospice Memorial Gathering - Thursday, June 14, 2012
Avera McKennan Hospice & Palliative Care is hosting a potluck dinner Thursday, June 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Dougherty Hospice House.
Please come, and if you wish, bring a favorite dish of your loved one to celebrate their memory. Beverages, hamburgers, buns, plates and utensils will be provided.

Bereavement services include:
- Individual counseling provided by the Bereavement Coordinator
- Mailings for information & support
- Memorial Gathering offered twice a year
- Volunteer Services, to visit or provide additional support
- Lending Library which offers an extensive collection of books & articles
- Support Groups that are offered four times a year bringing together individuals who are experiencing similar pain from their losses
- An annual program, Helping Ourselves Through the Holidays, which focuses on self care and coping techniques to assist individuals during the Holiday season
Grief Support Groups
Support groups are offered Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. during the following dates:
- April 3 - May 15
- June 12 - July 24
- September 4 - October 16
Grief support groups meet at the Dougherty Hospice House located at 4509 Prince of Peace Place.
