Food Services Worker

Hundreds of people visit our cafeteria each day to eat a good meal or just take a moment to relax. Our food services team is always happy to greet our patients, guests and employees with a warm smile and great customer service.

Hue's Story

Hue Tran has been working in food services at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center for fourteen years, making her a veteran at customer service and process improvement. Hue greets everyone like an old friend, often taking time out of her busy day to strike up a conversation.

"I have met people from everywhere in the United States, and even when people come back they remember me. Everyone is part of the Avera family when they are here, and its nice to work in such a friendly atmosphere."

Hue likes many aspects of her job but most important to her is being able to touch the lives of so many people, often those under stress while in the hospital.

"I like meeting patients and their families, and I enjoy talking with them even when it's a busy day. I always ask if there's anything I can do to help, but I think being friendly and smiling is the best way to brighten their day."

Hue is excited to see the next generation of food services staff come on-board because it's a chance for her to grow and meet new people.
