School Overview and Student Handbook
Throughout the program, the student spends 40 hours each week in the hospital and radiology department. The curriculum consists of lectures, demonstrations, and supervised experience.
The day-to-day schedule of the student varies depending on the time frame of the program. The schedule includes weekend and evening clinical experience. Approximately 10% of the student’s total clinical clock hours are spent in evening and weekend assignments. All students are full-time students, and the program involves study and class preparation beyond the 40-hour week.
Students will participate in clinical rotations at the Sioux Falls Veterans Administration Medical Center and will be required to undergo a background check prior to starting clinicals there. If a student does not pass the background check they will not be able to complete clinical rotations through the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Other clinical rotations include CORE Orthopedics, McGreevy Clinic and the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota.
