Accreditations and Excellence
Avera McKennan laboratory is highly recognized nationally and internationally for its scientific excellence and quality as well as its efficiency. The first hospital laboratory in the United States to achieve Accreditation to the gold standard ISO-15189 Quality and Competence international standard in both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology; it stands alone in terms of independent recognition of the highest quality and competence in its field. In April of 2010, it was selected as the Medical Laboratory Observer 2010 Laboratory of the Year.
Avera McKennan Laboratory is also accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is an FDA licensed blood bank. It is registered and licensed under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) in accordance with Medicare requirements.
