Flow Cytometry

The Flow Cytometry laboratory at Avera McKennan provides specialized separation of cells to assist in the diagnosis of various diseases of blood and blood forming organs. Using the latest in six color laser flow cytometry instrumentation, this section offers the clinician the ability to determine immune status, cell identification and cellular marker identification available today.

Flow cytometry is an invaluable tool for our peripheral blood stem cell transplant program. It is used for diagnosis as well as for identification of stem cells and other cell types. This highly specialized area is staffed by specially trained and selected laboratory professionals.
