Wounds can be minor or serious and have many different characteristics. It's important to understand the nature and seriousness of a wound so proper treatment can be administered.

Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center's nurses and physicians are trained to handle most wound care issues such as cleansing, stitches, antibiotics and ongoing care. If you suffer a severe wound injury our emergency and trauma specialists are prepared to act. Rescue personnel will come to your aid if necessary and our emergency and trauma staff is always prepared to treat any injury.
