Parking for patients will be making another change!
Due to the ongoing construction and opening of the new Clinic building, Parking is moving from 5th over to 4th Avenue SW.
Hospital and Clinic entrances are also changing to 4th Avenue SW. There is a door on the North side of the new building or you may use the East-facing door that goes into the dining room. Staff and volunteers will be located at both doors to assist patients in finding their way to the new admitting and clinic areas. Visiting physicians, after Feb 22nd, will be located on the second floor of the new building, so patients with appointments with the visiting physicians should also use these new doors.
The temporary Parking established on the 5th Avenue side will be closed on February 22.
PCMC Designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital
The Minnesota Department of Health has designated PCMC as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital. Jessica Smidt, RN, Director or Nursing stressed the importance of this designation saying, "With a stroke, every minute counts. And seeking care at the closest available healthcare facility can influence the patient's outcome. With the protocols, policies, and increased educational requirements that have been implemented to obtain this designation, our community members can be assured that we are prepared to care for stroke patients with the highest standards and best practices."
The Stroke-ready designation means that a hospital is equipped to evaluate, stabilize and provide emergency care to patient with acute stroke symptoms. This includes having a stroke team always available, on on-site CT scanner, and the ability to administer a key clot-dissolving drug called tPA.
The stroke hospital designation process is the principal component of the Minnesota Stroke System.
