Avera Queen of Peace Cancer Center Donation

The White Lake Fortnightly Club decided that they wanted to help cancer patients, as many of them have had family members who have been affect by cancer. The club held a fundraiser at a recent basket ball game where they collected $150. Paulena Hanten, representing White Lake Fortnightly Club, presented Avera Queen of Peace Cancer Center with 67 items ranging from hats, to scarves and booties to be given to cancer patients receiving treatment in Mitchell. Paulena Hanten is pictured holding a western hat and Charlene Berke, Director of the Cancer Center, is pictured in the foreground.

The White Lake Fortnightly Club has been in existence for 72 years and stems from a club called the Generated Federated Women's Club which was established ove 120 years ago. The club is very active with the membership, all women, ranging in age from 28 to 65 years old. The club's original goal was to assemble a group of women who would help support the establishment of libraries, ambulances and city lighting around the U.S. the Avera Queen of Peace Cancer Center is extrememly grateful to the club for selecting our cancer patients as the recipient of their generosity.
