Clinical Enrichment Program (CEP)
A special paid summer work experience for nursing students is available at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. This experience is called a Clinical Enrichment Program (CEP) and is designed to facilitate the student nurse’s application of the nursing process to clinical practice within a learning environment. Also, it offers the opportunity for increased understanding of the professional nursing role and the employee/employer relationship.
CEP participants will have a unique opportunity to function as part of the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital health care team. Participants receive orientation to the hospital organization and specific nursing departments.
Applications Accepted starting September 1. Application Deadline November 15.
Student nurses who have completed their junior year of a four-year baccalaureate degree program or their first year of an associate degree program are eligible to apply.

In order to be considered, students must furnish the following:
- Cover letter describing career goals and reason for choosing this program.
- Application for Employment
- Scholastic References from two nursing professors
- Grade Transcripts (do not need to be notarized)

Interviews and Selections
Interviews and selections are completed during the month of December.
Length of Employment
Employment will be for a 12-week period beginning in late May or early June. Opportunities may be available at the end of the experience for continued employment in a nursing assistant position. CEP participants are responsible for finding their own housing. Arrangements should be made after receiving confirmation of acceptance.
