Avera Sacred Heart Hospital’s Acceleration and Challenge Programs benefit participants of all abilities. We offer a wide range of training programs for youth ages 10-18 years old, from the beginner to the elite level. These programs are designed to help participants reach their optimal potential with a focus on fitness and wellness. 

The participants current physical condition will be assessed and testing performed to determine strengths and weaknesses. Trainers will develop specific goals to increase overall wellness and achieve optimal performance for each participant. The pre-test assessment is then compared to a post-test analysis to determine areas of improvement and measure the participants hard work and dedication.

NEW for 2012! NUTRITION SESSIONS

Participants will develop life skills for making healthful eating choices while engaging in activities that are food related and relevant to their everyday lives. Avera Sacred Heart Registered Dietitians will present five nutrition sessions on Wednesdays at the Summit Activities Center gym (June 20, 27, July 11, 18 & 25). Parents are encouraged to attend with their child.

Junior Acceleration & Challenge Program

The Junior Acceleration & Challenge program is held at the Summit Center and geared for ages 10-14, runs 6 weeks, (June 18-July 27), with two 60 minute fitness workout sessions and one 60 minute nutrition session each week. Fee is $75. The Junior Program focuses on all aspects of reaching your maximum potential, including strength, endurance, flexibility, cardio-respiratory fitness, and overall wellness and nutrition.

In addition to the high intensity Junior Program, we now offer a Level I Junior Program geared towards those youth who are starting their fitness and wellness journey. Level I* workouts are Tuesdays & Fridays from 12-1 p.m.

Intensive Acceleration & Challenge Program

The Intensive Acceleration & Challenge program is held at the Summit Center and geared for ages 14-18, runs 8 weeks (June 11-August 3), with four 90 minute fitness workout sessions and one 60 minute nutrition session each

week. Fee is $150. The Intensive Program provides high performance training sessions, increase agility, coordination, linear and lateral speed, quickness, explosiveness, vertical jump, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness and nutrition. Workout sessions consist of speed training, plyometrics, resistance training and weight lifting.
